Sarah was out wandering through parking garages, scoping out shots from the sidewalk and even camped out in the middle of the street to take photos of an 83-year-old Kansas City tradition, the Country Club Plaza lights. It was chilly, but it could have been a lot worse. And, by 1 a.m. Monday or so, the Plaza was nearly deserted.
The lights were officially turned on Thanksgiving evening when tens of thousands of people crowded into the Country Club Plaza. They’ll remain lit each evening through Sunday, Jan. 13.
The best spot for photographs? Probably the top level of the somewhat dilapidated Jack Henry garage (on the top floor, you can see the floor below through holes in the concrete!) Best place for shots of the famous Giralda Tower? Across the street (and a bit to the east) near the J.C. Nichols Fountain.
We hope you enjoy Sarah’s efforts. Prints are available for purchase either matted or unmatted, and also in hand-crafted four- and six-card gift card sets.
